OUTSTANDING!!! If only algae fuel production wasn't treated like a research project and was treated more like, "We are making this fuel from the smartest, most environmentally helpful process and we just need the government and the general public to help endorse, fund, and scale the usage. Sadly, however, the oil, coal, and gas lobbies help prevent this from happening. Imagine when gasoline, considered a waste product of the kerosene refining process from crude oil was first utilized for the internal combustion engine, followed by the automobile and it's widespread use. The automobile companies didn't question whether or not the research of gasoline supported the long term success of the automobile. No, they couldn't make it fast enough. My point is that what is needed in order to create the shift necessary for algae oil to be the number one fuel oil is for companies and manufacturers who use fuel or make products that use fuel to embrace it and show a profit from replacing petrochemical-based fuels. To me that is the greatest challenge, not the research. How can this be made the imperative choice and not the interesting possibility?

Darby,

Thanks for reaching out to us! We can't say enough about Cascadia's amazing leadership in bringing about the Living Future unConference to the green world. We certainly know that Living Future is not an organization but a result and product of cutting edge thoughts and applications.

We will be releasing a blog series on the Living Future unConference and our experiences there.

Best,

Thanks for the press! Hoping you had a rewarding experience last week, too. Thanks a ton for supporting our event and making your way to Portland.

I wanted to quickly clarify, based on your entry above, that Living Future is the name of our unConference, and not an organization in and of itself. Cascadia Region Green Building Council is one of the earliest chapters of the USGBC and our own 501(c)(3), covering the Cascadia Region from Portland to Alaska.

We're always seeking honest feedback so we know what to strengthen and improve for next year and beyond. Feel free to become a fan of Cascadia on Facebook, and use the Dialogue tab to share your experiences. Or just write to us via our website.

Thanks again for participating this year. Cheers.
